Phage technology for Listeria control

Our bacteriophage (phage) solution, Phageguard L, is developed for the food industry to specifically target prevalent Listeria spp. serovars found in food processing environments. Phageguard L is a natural, non-corrosive solution that is highly effective in Listeria control on food, and Listeria sanitation of processing equipment, hotspots, and the removal of Listeria biofilms. When applied to food products, our phage solution offers Listeria control while retaining the beneficial bacteria and organoleptic properties of the treated products. Phageguard L is USDA FDA approved since 2007, organic listed, and GRAS certified for clean label processing. The phage solution comes in liquid form, offering versatile applications for addressing detected Listeria hotspots and controlling Listeria on a wide range of food products, all without disrupting the workflow of the production line.

Listeria sanitation for the entire production plant

Phageguard L is suitable for application on food and food contact surfaces (FCS) in the food processing environment. The phage solution offers a versatile intervention for controlling Listeria spp. on foods, as well as for removing Listeria biofilms and hotspots.

Advancing phage technology

Bacteriophages are biological organisms that serve to maintain the natural balance of bacteria. Each type of phage has the unique ability to target a specific bacterial species, up to the level of bacterial strains.

The phages in Phageguard L are effective against prevalent Listeria serovars found in the food industry. What sets this technology apart is the ability of phages to precisely target their host bacteria. Phages interact with the targeted bacterial species, in this case Listeria spp., like a lock and key. This ability provides significant benefits for both food applications and the sanitation of food contact surfaces (FCS) in controlling Listeria spp.

On food
Since the phages specifically target Listeria spp., Phageguard L does not impact beneficial bacteria or alter the organoleptic properties, such as color, taste, texture, and odor, of the treated (delicate) food products.

Food contact surfaces
Phageguard L is non-hazardous, ensuring worker safety during the sanitation of production equipment or the removal of Listeria hotspots and biofilms.
