A natural precision technology
Our technology uses naturally occurring bacteriophages to reduce Salmonella, Listeria, and STEC O157 in food industries. In contrast to traditional methods like heat and chemicals, our phage technology offers a natural, targeted solution for the highest safety standards.
Refined by science. Designed for your production line.
Meet the phages
Bacteriophages, commonly known as “phages”, are biological antimicrobials that co-evolved with bacteria over billions of years, having the ability to seek out and eliminate specific bacteria. Every day, phages reduce the global bacterial population by an estimated fifty percent, maintaining a healthy microbial balance in our world.
Phages are omnipresent. Found in soil, water, food, the gastrointestinal tracts of animals, and even in the human gut microbiome, they form an invisible but essential component. Their constant interaction with bacteria not only controls harmful pathogens but also fosters microbial diversity and stability across ecosystems.
Phages play a critical role in preserving ecological balance. That’s why at Phageguard, we utilised the unique power of specific phages to reduce dangerous pathogens like Salmonella, Listeria, and STEC O157 across food processing lines. Our phage technology offers an elegant, effective, and sustainable approach to modern food safety.
The lytic cycle
Once a phage identifies its bacterial target, it attaches and inactivates the bacteria. This natural process is called the lytic cycle. Unlike broad-spectrum interventions, phages work with pinpoint precision, leaving beneficial bacteria untouched. The result: targeted, efficient, and natural bacterial control. Refined by evolution, optimized by science.
